Wedding at The Wildflower Event Venue

Weddings

November 30, 2022

I met Jacee & Zach about a year ago when they booked me for their November wedding in East Texas. When we met up last spring for their hidden waterfall engagement session in Dallas, I left that session so pumped for their wedding. We had so much fun at that shoot and their photos definitely show it. Jacee and I became insta besties, tagging me in wedding groups and commenting on each other’s stories; we got more and more excited to work together again.

By the time their wedding day finally came, I was STOKED to finally get them married. I got my second shooter squared away and we were rockin’!

I loved all the deep, fall colors they chose for their decor. It had a classic feel with some boho and rustic accents thrown in. Super up their alley! The Wildflower Event Venue was the perfect choice for them. If you’re looking for an affordable wedding venue in East Texas, definitely check them out. They’re a great mix of modern meets rustic, with a beautiful arched outdoor ceremony space overlooking a pond. (Full list of wedding vendors at the end of this post!)

Jacee also wore these dainty little Mickey Mouse earrings to sneak in her love of all things Disney. (Love that for her. Always include things that express your personality on your wedding day.) She and her bridesmaids wore funky cowboy boots.

Instead of a flower girl, they had a their friends be “beer boys” and walk down the aisle with belts full of cans, passing out cold beer to the crowd. If you’re having beer boys instead of a flower girl, that is totally my vibe and I ask that you message me right now.

Then Jacee and her dad headed down the aisle and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. Everyone had been waiting for this moment. She looked absolutely incredible in her sparkling cathedral length wedding dress. Zach tried to keep his cool but definitely lost it when he saw her coming.

After exchanging vows, they slipped on their rings, said a prayer, and took a shot of fireball together! I love the idea of a unity shot – what do you think? Would you do a unity shot at your wedding?

Then they headed down the aisle as husband and wife! I gave them a few minutes alone to soak in the moment before everyone rushed them as they exited the ceremony.

Then we started on some bridal portraits, which I like to call newlywed portraits, because it’s basically just shots of you and your boo as newlyweds. We work our way into photos with the wedding party, family, and wedding guests, then get ready for the grand entrance.

After speeches from their besties, they released everyone for dinner. They served Babe’s Chicken and sweet tea. Just gotta say, I loved loved loved the food at this wedding. I’m all about the sides (shoutout to mashed potatoes), and this was such a fun catering option. More fried chicken at weddings, please!

Their wedding cake had a tradition I hadn’t seen before! J’s family is from Louisiana, and they did a traditional cake pull like they do in New Orleans. Where the cake is set on strings that have little charms or fortunes on them. It’s similar to a bouquet toss, and reminded me a little bit of looking for the baby in a king cake. It was a fun idea to get their guests involved in their wedding day!

Then they cranked up the music and got the party started! In between dances, I grabbed J + Z and asked if they’d want to sneak out for a few nighttime flash photos. They said hell yeah, so we snapped a few before heading back in because it was cold af.

Everyone danced until it was time to call it a night, then lined up for the sparkler exit. (Doesn’t J look so happy? 🥰 What a cutie.)
