Okay. I’ve been sitting on this one for a while. This is one of my favorite weddings ever. I’m very excited to share this with you and I’m likely to drop a few f-bombs out of excitement. If you’re having a spring or summer wedding, garden wedding, or backyard wedding – this post is for you. This is your inspiration post, you def want to pin this for later!! (Then book me as your Dallas wedding photographer.)
M and G got married last spring in the backyard of their historic home in downtown Frisco, TX. I loooove love love a tented backyard wedding (as you’ll see from the backlog of wedding photos I’m sitting on and WILL turn into blog posts. I will.) They’re always full of intentional details, usually a smaller, more intimate guest count, and overall just a more laidback and fun event. The couple is focused on their day together and have a kickass night with their favorite people. I’m here for it.

M wore a floral printed wedding dress, with her bridesmaid and mama in feminine, blush tulle dresses with chunky green heels. G was in a classy white suit and his sons as groomsmen rocked traditional black suits. I loved their simple white boutonnières. (Whichhh will be referred to as “bouts” from now on bc that word is really hard to spell.)

After their first look together on the staircase, guests started to settle in for the ceremony. The ceremony was set under a big tree, with a white linen backdrop in front of a greenery arch. Floral vines and lanterns hung down overhead, creating a dreamy garden canopy effect. It was honestly so gorgeous. This day lives rent free in my head forever and ever.

These vibrant summery ceremony details have a special place in my heart. The hanging lanterns and the rope swing with the greenery?? Stop. If you’re looking for a DFW wedding photographer, message me here!
They exchanged vows (shoutout to my guy Rick Sutherland at Dallas Wedding Officiants – we’ve worked a ton of weddings together and he’s always great) and headed inside for a few minutes of privacy and happy tears. I snuck off to capture all the reception details in the main tent. These are still some of my favorite table setups; the colorful florals and candlesticks, mismatched drinking glasses, and vintage plates were perfect for this garden party vibe. I loved how colorful everything was. And can I just say that a bright summer day under those big white tents makes the best light?

M + G’s first dance was a cutie. They cleared their backyard to create a dance floor under a big tree covered in string lights between their two white reception tents. Guests could grab drinks from the open bar on one side or mingle in the larger tent with the dining tables. Beautiful boho lounge seating was set up all around for little side conversations, and was a huge hit!
