Dezarae + William | Eureka Springs Wedding

Weddings

October 5, 2023

When Dezarae and William invited this DFW wedding photographer to the Ozarks to capture their colorful May wedding, I knew it was going to be a blast.

Dez and William move around a lot because of Dez’s job as a kickass doctor, so when deciding on where to host their wedding, the decided to have everyone travel into Eureka Springs, Arkansas for an eclectic wedding as unique as they are; complete with stunning glassware, bright florals, and a dream destination ceremony at the stunning Thorncrown Chapel. Luckily, I offer wedding photography packages in Eureka Springs, and once I heard more about their plans, I was DYING to help them. Like, I had decided that I was their photographer by the time we hung up their discovery call. 😅

I’ve been traveling to Eureka Springs since I was a kid. My grandparents frequent the area (they live in the Ozarks part-time) and my great great grandma actually worked at the historic Crescent Hotel where Dez and William both got ready and hosted their reception! Cool, right? Small world, for sure.

William sported a very dashing blue suit (as described by Dez) while his groomsmen opted for a cool grey, tied together with pale pink accessories. The bridesmaids followed suit in fun, spring tones of orange, green, and lilac, which looked absolutely gorgeous against the lush greenery and steel structure of Thorncrown Chapel. Dez’s dress was an absolute dream, with ivory lace and a plunge neckline framed by her dark, wavy hair and killer ink. Plus a pop of pink courtesy of her textured and lush bouquet.

And the shoes! Did you see the shoes? The Italian-made blue pumps for the ceremony and the bright flip into pink for the reception. 😍

Really, the details of this ceremony gave such a clear glimpse into how fun and loving Dez and William’s marriage will be. From the vintage touches and historic venue to the bright streamers and florals framing the couple’s head table – each detail came together to create a little slice of magic.

But if there’s one thing to keep in mind when considering a densely wooded area for your wedding, it’s that your phone signal may not always work. On Dez and William’s wedding day, I rode to the venue with the bridesmaids. No one’s phone would work but mine, so Dez used my phone to bump jams and get us to her ceremony on time. That’s why you definitely want to find the right wedding photographer for you – sometimes they have to make it work, all while securing timeless shots of your big day. Above is one of my favorite shots from the ride to Thorncrown – Dez driving a huge SUV stuffed full of dresses and bridesmaids, reaching for my phone to get directions.

Cocktail Hour at The Crescent Hotel

Speaking of details, Dez and William included a hand-written note for every single one of their wedding attendees. They even wrote one in German for a relative who’d flown in from Heidelberg to party with them.

Check out all these colorful details! Y’all know I love the colorful details.

Floral brass candlesticks? Butterfly glass bowls? Pressed flower cupcake toppers? The pink tablecloths that match the groomsmens’ ties? The freaking gold travel trunk and the rainbow floral arrangement?? And that’s not even including the cute velvet seating area at cocktail hour! I cry. Every detail of this wedding was just too cute to handle! Amy at The Vintage Soul Events did such an amazing job with coordinating the hell out of this wedding. She’s super experienced at working with The Crescent Hotel, so if you’re getting married in Eureka Springs, you should definitely give her a shout!
